Anonymous said: Looking for some good lesbian supernatural or horror books to read, can you recommended me some?

I’ve only read the first book on this rec list because I’m not a big fan of horror so I can’t say how good the other books will be, but I hope this is useful.

First, one of my personal favorites, is the Kate Kane series by Alexis Hall. The first book in the series is called Iron and Blood and I’ve written a review on it here. It has a lesbian protagonist who is a private detective and the world is full of vampires, werewolves, fey and other various supernatural creatures. It’s written from a 1st person POV which I don’t usually like but the author does it really well here. (Mixture of spn and horror)

Pretty Peg by Sky Allen, Josy Grant already had plenty on her plate before she found the magic puppet theater her murdered sister left behind.Things get worse when sexy new girl Nicky tells Josy her sister died at the hands of a mysterious figure from the Faerie Realm called the Woodcutter, and if they can’t stop him, Josy and her remaining sister will be next. They have just days before the Woodcutter strikes again on the autumn equinox, so Josy follows Nicky into the Faerie Realm to hunt him.

The Red Tree by Caitlin R. Kiernan is about Sarah Crowe who left Atlanta after the suicide of her lover, Amanda, to live alone in an old house in rural Rhode Island. She discovers an unfinished manuscript written by the house’s former tenant-a parapsychologist obsessed with the ancient oak growing on a desolate corner of the property. And as the gnarled tree takes root in her imagination, Sarah risks her health and her sanity to unearth a revelation planted centuries ago.

Shadows of the Night is an anthology of gay and lesbian horror stories which might interest you. There’s only one review on Goodreads which doesn’t give a whole load of information but I’ll include it here anyway.

Fist of the Spiderwoman is another anthology focusing on queer women with a review over at The Lesbrary. The review enforces that pretty much all trigger warnings apply (including rape and gore).

A Pale Existence by Gillian Paige, “Four troubled young women embark on a suicidal road trip in this haunting new piece of fiction. This is the gripping and thrilling story created by emerging author Gillian Paige, who has created a modern gothic that will both frighten and intrigue its readers. Long roads, a lonely city, and a terrifying forest all act as backdrops in a tale that shakes the foundations of reality” I’m not sure where the lesbian elements come into this book but it had the “horror” and “lesbian” tags so I’m assuming it’s in there somewhere.

Child of Doors by J.S. Little, there is a full review on The Lesbrary. “Nothing about the night Arc Litchfield’s mother died is certain for her, except for the blood and the light. Passed through a host of foster families, her childhood unfolded in a series of snapshots where she never smiled. Then she meets Aimii, a Tesla-loving rebel who shares her distrust for the world, and everything changes. But the darkness surrounding Arc has begun to spread, and she starts to see Him everywhere she turns. He is a predator moving through the world, who has hunted mankind for eons. He is the shadow man whose limbs are stretched too long; the man whose face is only smooth, white flesh. Arc knows she has been chosen by him, and that escaping will not be easy. The secrets of Arc’s childhood and His existence unravel before her, and Arc and Aimii are left with only one choice: Escape, or die trying.”

Hello!! I’m in need of a HUGE signal boost right now (and maybe a big reporting session) because my best friend is being blackmailed by her ex boyfriend.

I’m not exactly sure what I’m supposed to put here, but I feel like this should be a warning for anyone who knows him and just a general informative thing. Jacob lives in Australia and is 16 years of age. They’ve had a very unhealthy relationship and he’s threatened sending out her nudes multiple times. Jacob is very manipulative and emotionally abusive towards her and even ends up pulling me and her other friends into not being able to do anything because it’ll end up hurting her. He’s made around 7 Twitter accounts to contact my friend in the times that she was trying to get out of the relationship.

In the picture above, he’s posted her nudes and threatened her.

His Twitter accounts all start with @/neinthousand but the one that was most recently used was: @/neinthousand12 (but it was apparently deleted)

His Facebook account is:Jacob R Hynes, and he has more but I am unable to find them. They’re under Jacob Hynes and the like.

********** UPDATES!!! **********

First, we thought we had a compromise.

Then this happened not even a minute after:

PLEASE CONTINUE REBLOGGING THIS. My friend is only 15 years of age and this is absolutely horrible. We’re getting ahold of local authorities but if you see the pictures anywhere (namely twitter) REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY.

Put this guy on blast. Detestable scum.

Fucking ruin him.

are people seriously this psycho, holy damn >.>

What the actual fuck makes him think this is okay to do? What has happened in this CHILD’s life to make him think he’s so goddamn important that he can just fucking control another fucking human being like this? This shit makes me want to vomit.

College kids literally don’t care about walking in the way of cars at school because we’re like “hit me i don’t care pay my tuition.”

"Hit me my thesis is due in 12 hours and I haven’t started it"

"Hit me I have a final in an hour and I didn’t study"

"Hit me I’ve been on a 24 hour drinking binge and I’m invincible"

"Hit me. You’re a university vehicle and I’ll get free tuition."

"Hit me I feel like a failure anyway"

"When I was a kid, I believed you would become a mermaid when you went in the water to swim".
I really loved the little mermaid as a kid growing up so I had the warped perception you became a mermaid when you entered the water ahaha. This is me learning to swim with my cousin! This piece is for a gallery show at work.

This is a very enlightening article and it can be read in it’s entirety here, but it should also be noted that for all the restrictions listed, things were worse and even more restrictive for Black and other non-White women. And, while hinted at, this cannot be emphasized enough: some of the biggest beneficiaries of the Civil Rights Act and Affirmative Action were and are White women

History time! Get a little knowledge in your day.

"I don’t need feminism because all of this was so long ago no one even remembers" or something else facepalmy.

Inside The Next Chapter Of “Veronica Mars” »

But the actress never imagined a world in which she was not a part of the group’s next undertaking. “First and foremost, these people are a priority for me,” she said. “Working for Rob is a priority for me. And this character is a priority for me. All of those things combined means we can give a little something extra to the people who want it. And if the fans will enjoy it, we’ll keep doing it.”

For Bell, the last year and a half has shown her that — despite the numbers — the fans are voracious, and will welcome a return to Neptune as often as possible. “They’ve now earned a stake in this project,” she said of the ever-growing legion of loyal fans. “Previously we could say, ‘We want to do this,’ but they are the reason we’ve been able to breathe life into this again, so I’d like to know what they want. Do they want us to keep making low-budget webseries like this? Great. Then we’ll do it. Do they want another movie? Great. We’ll do it. Do they want to try and get it on TV again? Great. We’ll do it. When people ask me what I foresee from Veronica, I want to do what the fans want.”
